My first day in hospital was busy day
By noon my friend Ron Goyette had stopped by just as they were about to take me for an MRI. Ron assured me he would be there to take care of any business while I was getting better. And he is a man of his word.
Thanks Ron
While all this was going on a very moving thing was happening the RTN East Van Love Bomb texts started arriving on my phone.
(RTN stands for Rapid Time Networks a business network that I’m involved with and that morning I was supposed be making a presentation.)
Let me explain the RTN East Van Love Bomb is the brain-child of Anne Whitmore one of the RTN East Van Community partners.
(Anne is also an amazing Business Coach www.divafish.com)
What Anne loves to do is have the whole room send texts with best wishes to those who are going through tough times in our business network.
All this time my wife Dorothy, who has my phone and is seeing all these texts come through.
When she arrives in the hospital after lunch she shows me what has been happening on my phone!
The tears started and were hard to contain!
That evening at another RTN meeting in Burnaby Shawn Bearman (Shawn is another amazing Business Coach www.radicalideas.ca)
Shawn started the second wave.
About this time my oldest son Ben arrived from out-of-town and commented about all the texts that were coming to my phone.
It just wouldn’t stop!
Later that evening when Ben came to see me he showed me all the texts that had come in on my phone!
There were texts from people I didn’t even know.
This time the second wave of tears started flowing and were hard to contain!
For those that participated in these two love bombs they meant a great deal to me!
(I am starting to cry again as I’m editing this post. You have to remember that before my stroke I was very “controlled person ”tears never came easy.)
Around 50 Love Bombs that day!
It was hard to stop the tears.
The stream of visitors didn’t seem to end.
Including my youngest grandson Mikey with his parents in tow Michelle and James.
Altogether 25 people visited that day .
It was a busy day.
Simeon, I remember that morning so well. I was at the RTN East Van meeting when Anne created the Love Bomb for you. Thanks for sharing Simeon. I am moved too as I read your blog. We all love you here in the RTN network.
When a major event in our life happens like this it demonstrates how connected we all are and how we share this short time together. Caring and sharing is the ultimate objective that I believe we strive for. Sometimes we don’t always appreciate what we have until it’s gone as Joni Mitchell sang, but gaining that appreciation is really humbling. In my case I call it my extended warranty.
Good luck with your on-going recovery.
Simeon,
Thank you for the kind mention. I am so grateful that you’ve pulled through with flying colors. You are an inspiration for the hard work you have put into your rehab, your constant positive perspective and the bravery for sharing your story.
Our love to you and Dorothy.

Hey Sim,
Thanks for sharing your experience and emotions – it makes me appreciate you even more.. While I wasn’t part of the two love bombs you mention I’d participate in one for you any time. Why not right now? So here comes a small one; I’m sending you love, peace and humour for your journey to complete recovery!
Hugs to you and Dorothy,
Monika
It’s a very scary thing seeing your loved one lying still on a stretcher unable to
move or respond with clarity. Today, though we go through the hiccups since
your stroke, I love you more than when we were married. I’m staying for the
whole show, however long.
Much love, Dorothy
Howdy! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if that would
be ok. I’m absolutely enjoying your blog and
look forward to new updates.
An impressive share! I have just forwarded
this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on this.
And he actually ordered me dinner due to the fact that I found it for him…
lol. So let me reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending time to talk about this matter
here on your blog.
